Event: A "Good Night Out" to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2008

Did you know that in this country alone there are estimated to be more than 500,000 instances of Elder Abuse each year? World Elder Abuse Awareness Day falls on Monday 16 June 2008

The evening will include a buffet, live band, a belly dancing demonstration, (participation optional!!) quiz and raffle. All profits from this event will be going to Action on Elder Abuse a National Registered Charity (No:1048397)

Overview

CSIP is convening three full day events on behalf of the Department of Health for the social care community and their key partners to consider the working of the guidance on prtecting vulnerable adults - "No Secrets". A national consultation document will be published in July and these events are an opportunity to shape the content.

Speakers will include:

  • A local Director of Adult Social Services
  • A local NHS representative
  • A representative of the DH policy team

We are particularly keen to debate the following questions:

  • What works well?
  • What needs to change?
  • How do we change it?

Who should attend?

  • Local authority and NHS managers and front line staff including: adult protection co-ordinators; commissioners; provider staff in acute and mental health NHS trusts and in primary care:
  • voluntary and independent sector managers and staff;
  • police;
  • housing sector staff
