Adult Protection/Safeguarding - T&W Providers

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new safeguarding trainer for SPIC. I shall be providing training for Adult Protection, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards to independent providers and Telford & Wrekin Council staff.

For those of you that do not know me - a brief overview of my experience and background. I have worked for T&W Council for over eight years first in the Contract and Commissioning Section and then as Direct Payments team leader. Prior to that, I worked for Sandwell and Birmingham Council‟s in a variety of community development and training roles. Working in Telford I got to know many of the care managers and staff working in the independent sector and look forward to working with you all again: all be it in a different role.

I would like to extend an invitation to all T&W providers to attend a session to discuss the training needs of independent providers in relation to MCA and DOL‟s. This will be your opportunity to influence future training provision in these areas and your contributions will be very valuable. The session will take place on the 29th October from 9.30-12.30pm at Meeting Point House. (Please let me know if you can attend by phoning SPIC on 01743 860011).
