Infection Prevention

Liz Watkins and Jilly Hassall are the Infection Prevention and Control Training and Development Nurses for the Independent Care Sector in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin providing training and advice to both SPIC members and non-members.

Liz Watkins joined the team in February 2009 having previously worked as a district nurse in Wellington, Telford. Liz trained in Shrewsbury and qualified in 2000. Liz has worked in both the Princess Royal Hospital and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Jilly Hassall joined team in December 2008. Jilly has been a nurse for more years than she cares to remember! Nearly 30 years now. Jilly has a background in occupational health, the independent care sector and in Shropshire PCT Prison healthcare.

Infection Prevention and Control training courses are free and are held at the SPIC offices once a month or Liz and Jilly are happy to provide free in-house training offering the full Infection Prevention and Control course or bespoke training sessions to meet your needs. They are also available for help and advice on any infection prevention and control issues you may have. Liz and Jilly are currently undertaking an audit programme of all residential care settings and care agencies in Shropshire.
