Who is the course aimed at?

This course is aimed at experienced/senior staff in adult social care settings wanting to train colleagues in their own setting in Moving & Handling. You must deliver training using the training pack provided by Partners in Care and only train the workforce within your own organisation.

On completion of the training and to maintain your skills and knowledge you are required complete 6 hours CPD in Moving and Handling per year; if this standard is not met you should not continue to deliver training. 

COVID-19

Please ensure that all Learners attending training at our venue(s) are aware of the following:

  • All learners must verbally confirm they have no symptoms of COVID-19 . Should a learner exhibit symptom(s) of COVID-19, or confirm they have symptoms but have not tested, then Partners in Care will provide a test kit at no cost to the learner’s employer to be carried out before entrance to the building is confirmed. If a learner has symptoms but can provide evidence of a negative test taken on the morning of the course, this will be sufficient to allow entrance.

Course objectives

At the end of the course the learner will be able to: 

  1. Understand, demonstrate and deliver basic Moving and Handling theory and practice
  2. Understand and explain what makes successful learning
  3. Apply teaching theory to the delivery of Moving and Handling theory and practice
  4. Understand and explain how the laws, legislation and ethical frameworks apply to moving and handling of people within Health and Social care
  5. Understand, explain and carry out basic risk assessments for Moving and Handling using the ergonomic assessment tool TILEO
  6. Understand how to deliver Moving and Handling training and assess learners of varying levels, from novice to expert
