Embedding Data Security & Protection

Shropshire Partners in Care was successful in a bid for funding from Digital Social Care and the Local Government Association whichallowed us to offer local providers free support to complete the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) and also to support with Cyber Security.

The two groups of providers we supported in this project were:

  • those who have achieved entry level were working towards standards met
  • those who hadn’t started the process (they may have registered for the toolkit but haden’t got any further?)

We put on multiple dates for sessions for each group to focus on completing the toolkit. After each group had completed 3 sessions the trainer then met with any providers who needed additional support to complete the toolkit within their own organisation.

To support with Cyber Security we delivered event on 06 February at Shrewsbury Football Club, with presentations from local specialists providing information and guidance on the key safety measures care providers should be putting in place to protect their organisation from cyber/online attack.

Speakers Included:

  • Chris Pallett, Managing Director, Bespoke Computing
  • Andy Carpendale, Infastructure Security Specialist, Telford & Wrekin Council
  • Fiona Richardson, Assistant Director, Institute of Public Care, Oxford Brookes University
