Nominated Individual Learning & Development Pilot

What is a Nominated Individual (NI)?

The Nominated Individual (NI) role is a requirement for all CQC registered providers (other than partnerships). It must be undertaken by a director, company secretary or senior manager and is responsible for supervising the management of the regulated activity provided.  The NI role is pivotal, providing strategic internal leadership, acting as a critical friend to the business and supporting relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Project Aims:

To develop, design and pilot a learning and development programme to support those currently in and those aspiring to be in the NI role.  Providing information on what is required of the role, how to embed the role into the business and developing exploring a range of mechanisms for those in the role to support each other.

Project Achievements:

During January and February 2019 16 participants took part in our pilot programme.  The pilot was well received by participants; they were positive about the style and content of the course and the toolkit. The group helped us to thoroughly assess and evaluate the programme and provided insightful critique and suggestions for further refinement. We have developed a range of learning and support tools available in the online toolkit, and we have provided local nominated individuals with the opportunity to meet share ideas and begin to develop supportive peer relationships
