Workforce Development Fund (WDF)

Background

WDF is funding from the Department of Health that is distributed by Skills for Care through a network of employer led partnerships across England. The Care Workforce Development Partnership (CWDP) which is part of Shropshire Partners in Care is the employer led partnership for Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

Adult Social Care employers in England can access WDF towards the cost of staff completing adult health and social care qualifications e.g. Apprenticeships, Diplomas, Certificates and Awards.

The Workforce Development Fund (WDF) for 2019/20 is now open and we are ready to receive your claims for processing.

The WDF Funding Pack 2019/20 has been issued electronically to all Adult Health and Social Care providers in Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin and it is also available to download on the SPiC website.

If you are new to claiming WDF, you will need to complete the WDF Member’s Declaration Form for 2019/20 and return it electronically to Amanda Berey at aberey@spic.co.uk .  The WDF Member’s Declaration Form was emailed to you with the 2019/20 Funding Pack and you can also download a copy from the SPiC website.

To be eligible to claim WDF in 2019/20 you will need to have completed 90% of the ASC-WDS (Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set) staff records since the 1st April 2019.  If you updated your NMDS-SC prior to its closure on the 18th July 2019, your information will have automatically migrated to the ASC-WDS. If you have any queries or need support with this, please contact the Skills for Care Support Team on 0113 241 0969.

In 2019/20 you can claim up to a maximum of £2,000 per learner

If you have any WDF queries please contact Jackie Smith or Amanda Berey on 01743 860011

Please continue to send us claims for completed qualifications, our next WDF milestone with Skills for Care is due mid-January.  If you need help to claim please contact Jackie or Amanda – jsmith@spic.co.uk or aberey@spic.co.uk  telephone 01743 860011.

In recognition that the transition from NMDS-SC (National Minimum Data Set – Social Care) to ASC-WDS (Adult Social Care Workforce data Set) may have caused delays in being able to claim WDF this year, Skills for Care are extending the deadline for WDF claims in 2019/20 to allow more time for you to claim.  The 2019/20 deadline has moved from 31 March 2020 and is now 31 May 2020, certificates with a date of issue in April or May 2020 will be accepted.  This allows an additional 8 weeks for you to claim.

A reminder that you can still claim WDF this year for completed QCF Level 5 Diplomas in Leadership that are included on the Skills for Care Funded Qualifications and Learning Programmes List.
