Rachael Griffiths

Director

Rachael has been the Owner and Director of Home Instead Senior Care Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Oswestry since 2013. Rachael’s passion to deliver the best quality domiciliary care service was based very much on her own personal experiences. Rachael was lucky to know all her Grandparents to a good age but also consequentially their increasing vulnerability. Between them they experienced various levels of care and support from hospital care, community care, domiciliary care and residential care.

Because of her experiences (and to satisfy her curiosity) Rachael felt the need to pursue a vocation to provide domiciliary care. Not only to support clients with everyday personal care tasks but to enable them to continue to remain socially active within their communities, visiting the shops, going to the theatre and concerts, to take them out for meals at the pub or café and arranging them to join social clubs. She had learnt from her experience the importance and the huge benefits of keeping people mentally, physically and socially active enhancing their quality of life and retaining their dignity and independanœ.

Over the year Rachael has recognised the importance of SPiC in supporting the development of her business. It has enabled opportunities to share training and examples of good practice. This has inevitably led to the continuous developments in the care offered by her own service.

Rachael has always looked beyond her own service in order to develop awareness in the local community. She continues to support local charities through community events such as Community Sing-a-Longs. Most recently such event have raised significant amounts for charities such as Parkinson’s UK and a new Shrewsbury Charity called Integrated Music Experience.

Rachael is enthusiastic to promote care in the local community – raising people’s awareness and in many cases reduces the fear factor. She undertakes talks to local groups on Dementia Awareness, Scam Awareness and End of Life Awareness. She is also keen to explore many avenues in order to raise   the   profile of care. She has worked her way through the Shrewsbury Rotary Club to become President for the current year. One of her foci for the year in to support the Jacobs Well Appeal charity which collects unused medical supplier which can be sent to third world countries.

It is Rachael’s belief that by taking a different approach to care and support we can make such a difference to the lives of older and vulnerable people in Shropshire.
