Data Security Protection Toolkit

The Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) replaced the Information Governance (IG) Toolkit in April 2018 as the standard for cyber and data security for healthcare organisations and their partners.

It forms part of a new framework for proving statutory compliance on data security and protection, and supports GDPR compliance.

In the Department of Health and Social Care guidance information governance requirements for Care Providers can be summarised as:

  1. Social care providers who operate through the NHS Standard Contract will need to comply and publish to Entry level the DSPT by 31st March 2020. Entry level will give you access to NHS email
  2. For those who do not operate under an NHS Standard Contract, there is no mandatory action to take in 2019 however if you complete it you can use it as evidence for those CQC KLOEs, for GDPR compliance.

In conjunction with Marches Care, who have been involved nationally in supporting the development on the Data Security and Protection Toolkit for the Care Sector, we are providing information sessions in order to support providers to complete the toolkit.
