Course Summary

A two-day Outdoor First Aid course on two consecutive Saturdays.  The qualification meets the requirements of UK Athletics for a First Aid Category C Training Course as stated in First Aid Guidance for Coaches and Leaders (UK Athletics, December 2021).

Accreditation and recognition

The ITC level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid qualification (601/7616/7) is externally regulated by Ofqual and meets the standards to appear upon the national qualifications frameworks of England and Wales. This course is recognised throughout the UK.  It is also accredited by the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL).  It is built by combining 2 units of assessment in one coherent training package.

Unit 1 Outdoor Emergency Action (Y/507/7797): This unit focuses on assessment of the casualty and treatment of life threatening emergencies in an outdoor environment. Unit 1 can be done on its own to receive the 8 hour qualification ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid Emergency Action (601/7616/5).

Unit 2 Outdoor Incident Management (D/507/7798): This unit looks at further illnesses and injuries common in the outdoors and develops both first aid and incident management skills in context based outdoor scenarios. As part of the course, Day 2 is out of doors – you will need to wear appropriate clothing.
Completion of both these units leads to the ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid qualification.
